Dreamscapes, Day & Night
daydream |ˈdāˌdrēm|
noun
a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.
dream |drēm|
noun
a series of thoughts, images, and sensations occurring in a person's mind during sleep : I had a recurrent dream about falling from great heights.
• [in sing. ] a state of mind in which someone is or seems to be unaware of their immediate surroundings…
During the stress of the day or the monotony of routine, my mind seeks escape to places more vibrant, and experiences more fulfilling. These are the visions of my daydreams.
I often wake up in the middle of the night and find the way of how I could complete that unfinished stroke, a better composition, etc. inspired by the visions of my dreams, bringing to life that reality that can never be.
Metal Sculptures
Recycled Auto Parts and other objects found buried and some of them just exposed to the weather at my friends' back yard.
It was such a great feeling finding these items and immediately I envisioned some ideas, forms and so many possibilities.
I started cleaning, removing and also keeping some of the rusted rich features that make the pieces more exciting to work with.
I also found behind my studio on the train track rail road spikes which I developed some bracelets through blacksmithing.
Portals
Portals, it is a series of more than 40 pieces that were inspired from the movie :
Pan's Labyrinth. In a fairy tale, Princess Moanna, whose father is the king of the underworld, visits the human world, where the sunlight blinds her and erases her memory. She becomes mortal and eventually dies. The king believes that eventually, her spirit will return to the underworld, so he builds labyrinths, which act as portals, around the world in preparation for her return.

Travelers
It started as a diversion during my trips to Atlanta, Charlotte and Palm
Springs in 2008. With 10 to 20 seconds study each, I began sketching
the faces of people who caught my attention at airports, on airplanes,
and at the Atlanta Zoo, all without the subjects' knowledge.
After filling my sketch book with unfamiliar faces came the idea of
committing them to canvas. At first, the idea of painting the faces of
people that I do not know seemed crazy. Now, 17 faces appear on canvas!

50/50 Face Off
This series was an idea born in one of the art walks at my studio when JoAnn Nava (artist and friend ) suggested to work together and paint faces from our mind (no portraits) and with just 5 colors palette and 25 different faces each total of 50. It was fun, crazy, challenging and most of all: IT WAS ART. Cant wait for our next project.
